He was also the player of the series for his stellar bowling performance. Varun has joined the ODI squad in Nagpur."

On February 4, Varun was seen actively training with the ODI team at Nagpur's Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. His presence suggests that the Indian team management is keen on giving him an opportunity to prove himself in the 50-over format. "I have a feeling that Varun might get a chance to play in the ODI series between India and England. I don't think it's an easy call to take him directly to the Champions Trophy. He has not played ODIs. I have a feeling they will give him a chance in this series. If they don't, then it's difficult. But, nevertheless, I congratulate Varun for his first Player of the Series award. He is the ‘Chakravarthy’ of T20I cricket at the moment, and I wish he continues to grow."


Gautam Gambhir’s Support for Varun Chakravarthy

Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has been a strong supporter of Varun’s inclusion. It was under Gambhir’s leadership that the leg-spinner made a comeback to the national team after a three-year hiatus. Since then, Varun has emerged as India’s top match-winning bowler in T20Is, taking 31 wickets in 12 games.



Additionally, his domestic performance has been outstanding. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he picked 18 wickets in six games, including two five-wicket hauls against Mizoram and Rajasthan.
